Early Selections for Saturday, September 20th

Last weekend wasn't too kind so we'll have to make up for it with some "5-Star" winners, or perhaps a "Lock of the Week".

-We're getting started early this week due to the first game being on Wednesday evening between Kansas State and Louisville. Louisville looked like crap against Kentucky and with K-State a slight road favorite I'm going to take the Wildcats minus the points.

-South Carolina has a solid D, but I still didn't like what I saw from Georgia's O last Saturday and as a result, I'm taking ASU to pull an upset.

-Why in the world would I pick UCLA after last week's disaster in Provo? Because they play an Arizona team that just got beat up by New Mexico. One of those two teams will rebound; I'm banking on Neuheisel getting the Bruins ready to play in Pasadena.

Updated: Ouch! Well, I broke out the Platinum Sombrero ... not much good happened this weekend. As mentioned in the comments, I think it's time to avoid the Pac-10...for the rest of the year.

Kansas State (-4) at Louisville (Louisville 38-29; LOSS)
Oregon (-10.5) vs. Boise State (Boise State 37-32; LOSS)
North Carolina (-2) vs. Virginia Tech (Va. Tech 20-17; LOSS)
Arizona State (+7) vs. Georgia (Georgia 27-10; LOSS)
UCLA (+2.5) vs. Arizona (Arizona 31-10; LOSS)

Current Odds

I've revised the Last Week/Overall numbers to include a PUSH category. Percentages are WIN / LOSS / PUSH (even though if you PUSH you get your money back).

Last Week: 1-2-2 (20% / 40% / 40%)
Overall: 7-6-2 (43.75% / 37.50% / 12.50%)

Mid-week Thoughts

Not a lot standing out to me this week:

I wanted to take the under on LSU at Auburn but they may hit it if Auburn decides they have an offense.

So my only 2 picks are:
Wake Forest (+5) vs Fl St.
Georgia (-7) vs Arizona St.

And I wouldn't put too much on them...

Wake plus the points...interesting play. Fla. State has had some issues at QB, might be a really solid play.

I guess we'll cheer against eachother in the UGA/ASU game.

I'd actually take Wake straight up to win, but will take the points.

I'm taking a risk with Georgia, but from what I heard about ASU, they couldn't handle UNLV's speed and Georgia is fast. Plus it's a whole lot easier for an east coast team to come west than vice versa. Plus, UG's D looks to be able to handle the pass heavy Pac-10.

I'm taking the under (38) on LSU/Auburn too. I don't think I will necessarily hit it, but I need more action...

The under is definitely a solid play in the LSU/Auburn game. Those SEC games seem to be D-fests this year.

Wake Forest (+5) vs Fl St. Win
Georgia (-7) vs Arizona St. Win
LSU at Auburn (under 38) Loss

While watching the start of the Tenn/Florida game I realized I missed the ND/Mich St(-9) game, but couldn't get online to add it. I'm liking Mich. St. this year. I'm counting it!!!!

ND vs. Mich St (-9) Win

Man, and you couldn't catch a break this week.

I hope you have this luck when we play in the SEC championship.

This was Black Saturday...just a beatdown. That NC game just got away from them...they looked good most of the way. ASU was a stretch but I thought they would be able to score a little more than they did. UCLA...Oregon...I think I'm going to avoid all Pac-10 teams the rest of the way (other than USC).
