A brief article at the Thoroughbred Times indicates that officials from NYRA, Keeneland, Oak Tree, and Del Mar are discussing to possibility of creating their own ADW in the hopes of returning a greater percentage of handle to the tracks and horsemen.

A quick comment on this announcement...

I won’t be at all surprised if more tracks begin to move in this direction. The amount of handle that is returned to the tracks and horsemen differs significantly if a bet is place on-track or off-track, which is one of the reasons that the change in betting habits has (from on-track to internet) has caused problems. Setting up an ADW to function the same as an on-track bet is really the next logical step in the process for the tracks. How this will play out, however, is really anyones guess.
