Around SBN: Jeremy Lin And How The Pac-12 Missed Him

If you thought that Eskendereya's performance in the Fountain of Youth was the best of Saturday's Derby preps, you were right (if you go strictly by speed figures).

106: Eskendereya (G2-Fountain of Youth)
99: D'Funnybone (G2-Hutcheson Stakes)
97: Conveyance (G3-Southwest)
96: Discreetly Mine (G2-Risen Star)
83: Connemara (G3-El Camino Real Derby)

Pretty big upset at TAM

Kind of shocked that the field let Karelian and Rosemary Homeister, Jr. go 6f in 1:14…he’s a decent horse and she’s a great rider on the lawn. Still, Gio Ponti looked like a sure winner in mid-stretch.

Apparently, the connections are still planning on Dubai.

I hope Gio Ponti looks better pre-race in Dubai

Wasn’t he all sweaty before the race? TVG tried to sell him as “hosed down” or something. Oh well maybe chalk it up to a bad day. I won a few bets (read: didn’t lose as much as I could have) on that race playing your aforementioned angle – hot jock on the turf.
