Around SBN: Nevin Shapiro Vows To Bring Down Miami

Breeders' Cup Juvenile winner, Vale of York (IRE), finished 5th in his three year old debut at Meydan Racecourse in Dubai this morning. Another Goldolphin horse, Mendip, won by an easy five lengths after stalking an extremely slow pace. Mendip is a three year old son of Harlan's Holiday out of a Coronado's Quest mare.

In race 6 in Dubai this morning...

Japanese Horse of the Year, Vodka, flattened out in the stretch and finished well back in the Al Maktoum Challenge (Round 3). Red Desire (JPN) took the top spot.

Vodka’s name popped up as a possible Apple Blossom entry when the race was first announced a while back but her connections opted to take her to Dubai for a stab at the World Cup at the end of March. Not sure she’s got much of a chance in that one as today’s effort certainly didn’t make you think she’s sitting on a big race over the Tapeta surface.
