Wednesday Belmont Park Pick 6 Results ($930,000 Carryover)
There is speculation that the pool for today's Pick 6 at Belmont could reach $3 million, although the early scratches and the switch of race 9 from turf to dirt may cause a slightly smaller pool.
Post time for the first leg, race 4, is 2:22 Eastern / 11:22 Pacific. (The post time has been moved up by Belmont Park in hopes of beating the rain.)
I'll post the results for each leg of the sequence below.
Race # Winner $2 Win $2 P6 4 4 Macho Joe $5.20 5 3 Landlash $44.00 6 10 Hooligan's Delight $9.10 7 7 John Wyatt $10.00 8 1 Starforaday $10.80 9 11 Night Spirit $15.80 $552,535.80
Winning combination: 4 / 3 / 10 / 7 / 1 / 11
-4-Macho Joe wires the field at 8/5 in the first leg and wins easily ahead of 1-Montana Knight.
-A huge upset in Race 5 (leg 2), as 3-Landlash at 22/1 wins by a half-head over 5-Kaffiend. There were a lot of people that had either 7-Under the Rainbow or 1-Laylaben as singles on their tickets (including yours truly), and very few that were playing to this horse. Safe to say a ton of players were probably just knocked out of the Pick 6.
-Things return to normal in Race 6 as 10-Hooligan's Delight sweeps by pacesetter 3-Tudor King to win the third leg at odds of 7/2.
-The old "First Time Gelded" angle comes into play in Race 7 as 7-John Wyatt goes by 4-Tapitdar in the final strides to win at odds of 4/1.
Unless something really crazy happens in these final two legs, I doubt this Pick 6 will carryover. Race 8 is only a 5-horse field, so it's unlikely to produce a carryover causing result. The 9th, however, will probably have a strong favorite in the 12-Aquit, so that is probably the only hope of a carryover to tomorrow.
-1-Starforaday (4/1) takes command at the top of the stretch to win Race 8.
-Pick 6 Will-Pays
1 - 306,964.30
3 - 552,535.80
4 - 4,933.10 (5-of-6) CARRYOVER
5 - 920,893.10
6 - 9,850.40 (5-of-6) CARRYOVER
9 - 1,381,339.60
11 - 552,535.80
12 - 251,152.60
-11-Night Spirit sweeps by them all in the stretch and scores at 6/1 to trigger a $552,535.80 payout in the Pick 6. 3/5 favorite 12-Aquit, finishes 2nd.

$2.1 million in the pool. Don’t think they’ll get to $3 mi.
"A bad day at the track is better than a good day at the office."
I read the monitor wrong...
its 930k + 2.1…they’ll get to $3 mil easily.
"A bad day at the track is better than a good day at the office."
The last flash I saw was 930k + $2.9 mil.
So almost $4 million in the P6 pool.

Macho Joe goes wire to wire in leg 1.
Wins easily.

Work always gets in the way...
wish i could have made a feeble attempt at this. Did you end up putting a ticket in Matt?? Good luck if you did
I did but, alas, it's over before it started...
I pared down my original ticket quite heavily but still singled the 7 in the first leg with the 1 as my second choice. The winner, 4, would have been my 3rd choice but ticket cost was getting out of control.
But hey, I can always hope for 5-of-6…at least for another 10 minutes!

and there's the first bomb...
longest shot on the board…Landlash at 21/1 beats Kaffiend 18/1 by a nose.

Under the Rainbow and Laylaben.
who were a lot of people singles (Laylaben was one of mine) don’t finish in the top 3….gotta think that knocked out a lot of player.

TwinSpires.com Players Pool...
is alive after the first three legs, according to their recent Tweet. They must have gone “all” in leg 2.

The betting for Race 7 is just plain odd..
The 5 is bet down to 2/1, while the 6 is at 7/1? Don’t see that drastic of a difference between those two. I suppose they crowd is banking on a big improvement second time out for Jerkins but 2/1 is just horrible value (in my opinion) at 2/1.

P6
I was out in R5 with the big upset. I hope it carries over but that would probably mean #4 Law Enforcement and someone like #9 Green Arrows.
When will we know if there is a carryover?
As soon as they post the will pays prior to Race 9
we should know which horses would trigger it.
"A bad day at the track is better than a good day at the office."
Yep, just saw that.
1.3 mil if the $9 wins. Wow. Big, big money.
"A bad day at the track is better than a good day at the office."
If my rudimentary math is correct...
The 1.3 to the #9 means there are 2 people alive to that horse in the whole pool.

I did too..
I wouldn’t have been able to spread to him in the P6 but he caught my eye.

Nice run by Law Enforcement to grab 2nd...
that will be a nice Exacta with Starforaday.

28.50 EX for $1...not bad in a five horse field.

The final moments...
I have no vested interest in this Pick 6, I was out before it even got interesting, but I still love watching these final moments when a big pot is about to be paid out. Somebody is about to bring home a life changing score, if the 4 or 6 don’t win.

Can you imagine if you were alive and got beat by the #6?
There have got to be some nervous players out there right now.

11-Night Spirit at 6/1
Several people just won $550,000 in the Pick 6.

i'm a novice at the pick 6's...
let alone pick 3’s and 4’s so excuse this question for a second. but when it says 5 of 6, does that mean if those two horses would have won that of those people still alive no one had those two and people would get that much for picking 5 correct?
Yes...
everybody with 5 of 6 get that amount (which is usuall 20% of the total pool), and the rest is a carryover to the next day.
"A bad day at the track is better than a good day at the office."
I gotta say...
that was a brutally hard Pick 6; anybody that hit that deserves major kudos. There may have been only one bomb, but each leg had a bunch of horses that all had a shot (especially when you consider how bad some of those fields were in terms of talent).
Now I need to go and be a productive member of society.

One last comment - Equibase
If you had used the Equibase mutual picks and gone only 2-deep you would have cashed a 5/6 ticket for $884 and it would have only cost you $128.
