Lookin At Lucky wins the 2010 Haskell Stakes
An fantastic performance by Preakness winner Lookin At Lucky in today's Haskell Stakes as he wins by four lengths over Trappe Shot, with First Dude, and Derby winner Super Saver rounding out the top 4. A very impressive performance by Lookin At Lucky, who now has to be considered the top three year old in the country with his wins in the Rebel, the Preakness, and now the Haskell.
Trappe Shot looked like he was going to every opportunity to run to the front as the field came off the far turn but he didn't have the final kick necessary in order to get within sniffing distance of Lookin At Lucky. Trappe Shot came into his race with a lot of hype but he wasn't able to take that next big step to solidify himself, in my mind, as legitimate Classic contender.
Kentucky Derby winner Super Saver was neck and neck with the winner coming off the far turn, but threw in the towel when it was time to do the serious running.
Ice Box just didn't get enough of a pace to run at; like most stone-cold closers, Ice Box is a slave to the pace.

Looks like he's the real deal
Wonder what’s next after the Travers (I assume). A prep in Kentucky before the Classic?
That's what I figure..
Travers and then maybe Jockey Club Gold Cup at Belmont or something early at Keeneland like the Spinster?
Lucky’s Rebel and Preakness wins were much more “grind it out” victories but this one, I thought, was much more impressive. DRF.com has the Haskell as a 105 Beyer, so a decent performance from a figure perspective, as well.
