Thanks

Not that it’ll make up for all my misses.

Nice job!

I bought into the 7 camp and then just today bought into the Fly Down camp. I hit the exacta but not for great multiples,

I cringe when I say we had three on top of a .10 superfecta 874 and cut off one, just one, horse to reduce cost and yes – it was the 10. I couldnt believe when it was on the board,

I've had decent success in stakes races

…as of late. Claiming/Maidens/Allowances?

Not so much. :-)

First Dude

what does this guy do? he can compete but cant quite win in this division. maybe the dirt mile in the BC?

My take

I wonder if he’s one of those kinds of horses that likes running in packs, but hasn’t(maybe won’t ever?) quite figured out the game is about winning. Horses are pack animals afterall – and despite breeding them to race I’m sure the pack mentality still exists down deep.

by LAEagle on Aug 28, 2010 10:48 PM EDT up reply actions

i would buy into that theory.

Thanks

I occassionally have something intelligent to add. Normally I feel like yall have a much better handle on things than i do. :-)

That's a great take.

He certainly does appear to be a horse that hasn’t put is all together in terms of winnings.

others...

super saver – done. never race again. ice box? he looked aweful. when will afleet alex run again? a little warm, who i love, should not have been in that race. miners revenge ran exactly as he should. trappe shot cannot handle anything resembling a fast pace (the pace was legit but not fast – 203 was the final).

Borel is just awesome at the Derby

Back to back winners there who may never win another race. Pretty stunning….and sad.

I Was Keyed To All Three Afleet Alex Progeny....

…really wish it had been Afleet Again instead of Afleet Express, though. That result would have greatly improved my contest placing.

Now is the time boys to make a big noise.

Beyer

do we know what the Beyer was for yesterdays Travers? was it run at or under the par ratings?

by Swale on Aug 29, 2010 10:37 AM EDT reply actions

The preliminary numbers

are a 105 for both Afleet Express and Fly Down.

Looks like they didn’t split the variant for the day as Discreetly Mine got a prelim. figure of 93 for the King’s Bishop.

Slight correction

According to the DRF’s Steven Crist, the Beyer number crunchers did split the variant during the day (something they’ve been doing a lot of at Saratoga this year). All of the stakes races, however, had the same variant.
