Hollywood Park to stay open a bit longer?

I just now came across this article.

http://www.bloodhorse.com/horse-racing/articles/58272/hollywood-park-plans-to-race-through-2011

Acouple of things leap out.  First, is Santa Anita's seemingly militant expansion plans.  Of course the other is Hollywood Park continuing to stay open for what seems to be another year (at least).  This is great news for me as it's my track of choice.  It's been assumed for about a year now that 2010 would be its last year.  It's not as high scale as Santa Anita is (though it was not so long ago), but I like the vibe there.  I still hold out hope it can be saved, but I'll take what I can get.  The stay of execution is welcomed.

That's good news.

Hollywood Park has a lot of history and it would be sad to see it gone. At least it gets another year.

Oak Tree

Looks like Hollywood is going to get Oak Tree for 2010 and 2011.

Kinda surprising for in 2011

I had read like….2 days ago that Del mar was about to reach an agreement for oak Tree next year. Personally I am thrilled HP got both years. Perhaps this might help Hollywood Park stick around a bit.

Really looking forward to the Ladies Secret and Zenyatta.

Sorry, LAEagle...

…but I have lost so much money at Hollywood….I am biased against it! Granted, I have never been there, and maybe it is one of the old jewels. But it is one of only two tracks (the other being Aqueduct) where my ROI is not positive…I have said for a couple of years that I won’t miss it when it is gone…

…but then, maybe an Oak Tree meet will improve it for me!

Now is the time boys to make a big noise.
No matter what the people say,
For there is naught to fear, the gang's all here,
So hail West Virginia, hail.

LOL

No worries man. But I do think it’s one of the old jewels, or was before it was obvious they were waiting for the wrecking ball acouple of years ago. Now they’ve shuttered off half the place.
