2011 ARKANSAS DERBY: The Factor Leads Field of 13
The Factor, a Bob Baffert trainee and the impressive winner at Oaklawn Park in the Rebel Stakes last time out, will lead a full field of thirteen three-year-old colts in Saturday's Grade 1 Arkansas Derby (Post time: 5:58 Central time). With a total purse of $1 million, the winner of the Arkansas Derby will have enough graded earnings to guarantee a spot in the 2011 Kentucky Derby. Horses finishing second or third will likely be on the bubble, depending on earnings in prior races.
Alternation received a lot of wagering dollars prior to the Rebel Stakes, but had to scratch from that race after becoming agitated in the starting gate.
Below are the entries and post positions for Saturday's Arkansas Derby (Note: Caleb's Posse and Alternation are a coupled entry; horses listed in order of post position):

I think
Sadly.. this will end my Derby Future Wager on Brethren.
Sadly.. this will end my Derby Future Wager on Brethren.I’m more interested in Elite Alex – horse has had some bad racing luck and desperately needs the earnings to get in – because he has a shot if he does.
Sadly.. this will end my Derby Future Wager on Brethren.I’m more interested in Elite Alex – horse has had some bad racing luck and desperately needs the earnings to get in – because he has a shot if he does.I’m expecting Calvin is going to be told to go as hard as he can in this race – plus with the factor in, Alex should have OK odds to throw a couple of bucks at.
I like Elite Alex a bit, as well..
seems like eventually he’ll get a decent trip.
Before the Rebel a lot of people really like Alternation and I didn’t like him at all as I kept going back to that allowance race between him and Elite Alex where he was all-out to beat EA after a horrible start. I hope Alternation takes a bit of money at the windows.

I Too, Like Elite Alex...
but I feel as though I might have to take JP’s Gusto on general principle!
Now is the time boys to make a big noise.
No matter what the people say,
For there is naught to fear, the gang's all here,
So hail West Virginia, hail.

I don't know if he wants10 furlongs....
but I think he might be able to stretch 9 under the right circumstances.
I have a soft spot for the Afleet Alex horses….always liked him when he was running.
