Wood Memorial and Santa Anita Derby Draws

The post position draw for this Saturday's Wood Memorial and Santa Anita Derby will take place this afternoon.  Uncle Mo is expected to run in the Wood, while Jaycito and Premier Pegasus are expected to be among the field at Santa Anita.  I'll have the complete rundown of the fields for each races as soon as they are announced.

I may be at Santa Anita for the SA Derby

So, I’ll look forward to your breakdown as always.

Cool. Should be a good day to be there.

SA Derby looks like it could be a big field.

Is Uncle Mo

Going to face anyone this weekend? The last race I think he could’ve run backwards and won. I have rarely seen a horse win that effortlessly. Don’t get me wrong, I would love to see him romp so he takes all the money on Derby Day and I can get a price on Dialed In. For some reason I just love Dialed In.

I don't think the Wood is going to be too strong.

Seems like most of the contenders out east are in Florida, Arkansas or Cali at this point.

A friend of mine who is better

with the ponies than I am swears Uncle Mo is going to give the triple crown a run. He just really believes this is the best horse by far. I told him I’m going to try to beat him, but wouldn’t be disappointed if he did win a triple crown. I have to think, if he romps in the Wood, he could be the biggest favorite that we know very little about. He just hasn’t faced anything as a 3 year old yet. We’ll see I guess! I would have to think a win Saturday makes him a HUGE favorite come derby day.

I'm not going to be surprised if he make a run at it...

while I’ll try to beat him in the Derby I really think he’s easily the best 3yo right now. He hasn’t been tested but I don’t know if there’s a horse out there than can offer that test right now. Of course, the Derby is a whole different ballgame and he could get a bad draw, trip, etc. but I think he’s going to be tough to beat if he’s on his game. How far he wants to run, however, might be an issue going forward.

I think you’re right on his possible odds on Derby day…Big Brown was 5/2 and I think Uncle Mo could be lower than that. 2/1 or even 9/5.
