Jim Dandy Draws Field of Seven
Brilliant Speed, Stay Thirsty and Alternation will line up against four other rivals in Saturday's Grade 2 Jim Dandy Stakes at Saratoga. The nine furlong event for three-year-olds is the tenth race on the card with a post time of 5:45 Eastern.
Stay Thirsty and Brilliant Speed are making their first starts since finishing 2nd and 3rd to Ruler On Ice at the Belmont Stakes. (Ruler on Ice is expected to run in the Haskell on Sunday.) Alternation is making his first start since winning the Grade 2 Peter Pan way back on May 14th. Of the horses with a recent race under their belt, Dominus won the Grade 2 Dwyer on July 2nd over Adios Charlie, and Scotus took home the Grade 3 Matt Winn at Churchill on June 18th.
Woodbine shipper Moonshine Mullin will make his debut on dirt after winning the ungraded Victoria Park Stakes last time out on Polytrack.
Will's Wildcat finished 4th last time out at Monmouth Park in the Long Branch.
Saturday's Saratoga card will also feature the Grade 1 Diana Stakes, a nine furlong race for fillies and mares on the turf course. A very competitive field of ten has drawn into the race.

Jim Dandy
I’m looking for a shootout between 2-Dominus and 3-Brilliant Speed. I’m not sure what Leparoux has up his sleeve with Dominus because this horse loves the lead and the rider loves to run late. Maybe he won’t know until he feels the pace early on. Brilliant Speed will probably hold something back for the stretch drive as this is 9 furlongs.
You didn't get me down, Ray.
Dominus
I’m all in on Dominus – I wish the odds were better.
Maybe EXAB 2/4+5+7
Hard to make big money if Dominus goes off at 5/2.
Interested to see how the odds play out for this one...
I would think Dominus will take more action given his speed advantage, which might bump Stay Thirsty up a bit. Although, the crowd may love to hammer a Belmont runner-up.

We take anything we can get!
Nice call. I wasn’t sure if the Belmont was a big race due to the track or improvement. Looks like improvement after that effort in the Jim Dandy.
