DRF.com: Canford Cliffs Retired With Injury
Canford Cliffs (IRE) had won five straight Group 1 races prior to being defeated by Frankel (GB) in the Sussex Stakes at Glorious Goodwood.
Canford Cliffs was a strong possibility for this year's Breeders' Cup Mile, which would be a rematch of this year's Queen Anne Stakes against Goldikova (IRE). With Frankel's connections seemingly not considering the Breeders' Cup this year, the Mile will likely only feature one of the Big Three of European milers.

No kidding.
I suppose it happens every year, but it’s still tough to see any of the top rated horses fail to make it to the end of the season.
