Uh Oh Bango Strong In The San Pasqual; Out Of Bounds Takes The Sham With A Late Rally
The first three-year-old graded stakes race in Southern California took place today at Santa Anita with Out Of Bounds running past Breeders' Cup Juvenile Sprint winner Secret Circle in the final furlong to win the G3-Sham Stakes. Out Of Bounds, a son of Discreet Cat out of an Unbridled's Song mare (Unbridled Elaine), took home $60,000 in graded earnings in victory in just the third start of his career. After finishing 4th in his debut effort at Santa Anita last October (a race that saw the winner, So Brilliant, come back to win the G3-Hollywood Preview on Nov. 24th), Out Of Bounds came back to break his maiden against Special Weight company on December 1s at Hollywood Park.
Out Of Bounds is a Darley home-bred, trained by Eoin Harty and ridden by Garrett Gomez.
A little later on at Santa Anita, Uh Oh Bango unleashed a dominating performance to win the G2-San Pasqual at odds of 7/1. It was the first graded stakes win for Uh Oh Bango since he triumphed in the G3-Berkley over the Golden Gate synthetic surface back on May 30th of last year. More recently he was 4th in the G3-All American at Golden Gate (Nov. 25th), and 2nd to Bold Chieftain in the ungraded Bull Dog Stakes at the Fresno (Oct. 16th).
Uh Oh Bango is a five-year-old son of Top Hit out of a French Deputy mare (French Debutante). He is trained by Kory Owens and ridden by Mike Smith.
I'll have more on these races, and all of this weekend's activity, a little later on.

Fast time in the Sham or is SA still playing fast across the board?

Seems to be playing kind of fast
Even the grass races had some pretty quick splits today. And maidens put up some pretty quick times on the main track.
We’ll see how the figures stack up for this one.

Sham came back as a 99 Beyer
A pretty good figure for the first graded stake for 3yo in SoCal.
