Creative Cause, winner of last month's G2-San Felipe Stakes, leads a field of ten Kentucky Derby hopefuls in the Grade 1 Santa Anita Derby on Saturday at Santa Anita Park (Post time: 2:30pm Pacific; TV: NBC). The Giant's Causeway colt has won four races from seven starts, including the G2-Best Pal, G1-Norfolk and the aforementioned San Felipe. Trainer Mike Harrington has elected to take the blinkers off Creative Cause in the Santa Anita Derby in an effort to correct the colt's tendency to drift in the final furlongs.
Among the horses joining Creative Cause in the Santa Anita Derby are: Liaison, winner of the G1-CashCall Futurity, I'll Have Another, winner of the G2-Robert B. Lewis, Midnight Transfer, 3rd in the San Felipe, and Brother Francis, 3rd in the CashCall Futurity and 2nd n in the G3-Hollywood Preview, but still just a maiden.
