With the onset of severe heat in the Louisville area, Churchill Downs has moved back the first post for this weekend's cards to 6:30pm Eastern time, which provides for some Friday Night Lights action under the Twin Spires. Tonight's card is quite strong with good sized fields in all 11 races. Race 4 features a full field of juveniles in a five and a half furlong Maiden Special Weight on the main track.

There are also several good races out at Prairie Meadows tonight, including the Iowa Sprint Handicap. First post at the Iowa track is scheduled for 6:30pm Central time. The three stakes races on the card begin in race 7 with the Saylorville. Race 8 is the Iowa Distaff, followed by the Iowa Sprint Hcp. in race 9.
Keep an eye on the weather in Iowa tonight as there is a chance for thunderstorms in the evening.
