While the scratch of I'll Have Another was a major disappointment, the 2012 Belmont Stakes still provided plenty of thrills for horse racing fans. Union Rags got up in the final strides to beat the front running Paynter to win the Belmont Stakes. Atigun finished third while hard closing Street Life rounded out the superfecta.
Union Rags is a three-year-old son of Dixie Union out of a Gone West mare (Tempo), trained by Michael Matz and ridden by John Velazquez.
