According to a report in the Daily Racing Form, Awesome Maria has been retired. After her disappointing 3rd place finish in the DelCap, you had to wonder if there might have been something wrong with this filly. Ultimately, a tendon injury has ended her career with a record of 16-9-3-3 and $1.1 million in purse winnings.
