Arlington Million 2012 Result: Little Mike Runs Loose On The Lead

Little Mike gets away with extremely soft fractions in the early stages and cruises home to win the Grade 1 Arlington Million over Asfare (GB) and Cherokee Lord. Jockey Ramon Dominguez sent Little Mike right to the lead through an opening quarter of 25.10, then clicked off fractions of 24.85, 25.08 and 24.51 before being sent down for a final quarter mile of 22.90. Afsare made a big run in the lane to be the clear second but had little shot to make up enough ground to win given the soft pace.

Little Mike is a five-year-old gelding by Spanish Steps out of a Wavering Monarch mare (Hay Jude) trained by Dale Romans.

In the race prior to the Arlington Million, 2-I'm A Dreamer (IRE) held off a late charge from 8-Marketing Mix to win the Grade 1 Beverly D.10-Joviality (GB) rounded out the trifecta.

I'm A Dreamer is a five-year-old mare by Noverre out of a Sadler's Wells mare (Summer Dreams (IRE) trained by David Simcock and ridden by Hayley Turner.
