I don't come from a family with a horse racing background but my parents used to go to the old Longacres track in south Seattle when I was young. The Sunday Silence / Easy Goer rivalry in 1989 brought me into the sport, while the day to day challenge and joy of handicapping has turned me into the hardcore horse racing fan that I am today. I subscribe to Dish Network because it's the only cable/sat provider in my area that offers both TVG and HRTV. At least one of those channels is on in my home about 75% of the time.
