The twenty-four betting interests for the first pool of the 2013 Kentucky Derby Future Wager are out!
Breeders' Cup Juvenile winner Shanghai Bobby and CashCall Futurity winner Violence are the 12/1 co-second choices on the morning line in the first pool of the 2013 Kentucky Derby Future Wager. "All Others", a betting interest encompassing all horses not listed as one of the twenty-three specific horses in the Future Wager, is the morning line favorite at 9/5. The first pool of this year's future wager, consisting of three days of wagering, begins on Friday, Feb. 8 at noon Eastern time and continues until Sunday, Feb. 10 at 6:00 pm Eastern.
The second future wager pool runs from March 1 to March 3, while the final pool will open on March 22 and close on March 24. Churchill Downs will also offer a single future wager pool for the 2013 Kentucky Oaks from March 1 to March 3.
As will all other future wagers, a winning ticket only pays out if your horse wins the Derby and, more importantly, there are no refunds if you wager fails to make the Derby field. As a results, the future wager is as much about managing the risk of a horse even making it to the Derby with their actual chances of winning the race.
