Frankel rolls home to win the final race of his career.
Not much else to write about this horse - he's simply brilliant. The roar from the Ascot crowd during the race was spine tingling and it's exactly why I follow this great sport. Perhaps we don't get to see moments or horses like this very often but when we do, we are reminded why we love to watch these magnificent animals perform at a high level.
Big kudos to Cirrus Des Aigles and his excellent run against Frankel; he did everything a horse could do to win that race but, unfortunately, was running against a freak of nature. One wonders: if Frankel hadn't been racing this past three years, how good would we view both Cirrus Des Aigles and Excelebration? A scary thought, indeed.
I'll have more on the 2012 British Champions Day results, including a look at the fractions and splits from the TurfTrax timing, a bit later on this weekend.
