Week 2 is upon us and with it five more games to tantalize the wallet. Here we go:
1. Houston at Oklahoma State (-15.5)
OSU might be due for a little bit of a letdown after a big win in their first game as a preseaon top 10 team. But I'll still take the Cowboys and give the points in this match-up with Houston.
2. Notre Dame (-3) at Michigan
ND looked pretty strong last weekend, even if it was against Nevada. I'm not sure what to make of Michigan, even with this game at the Big House. Just a three point line? I like the Irish giving the points on the road.
3. Vanderbilt at LSU (OVER 44.5)
Here's a game where I wouldn't think of touching the point spread (which is LSU -14.5). The Tigers looked beyond mediocre at Washington last Saturday night, which means they are probably going to come out pretty strong for their home fans. Vandy has been much improved the past couple of years and should be able to put up a couple of scores on the Tigers. This one screams OVER to me.
4. Utah (-13.5) at San Jose State
I guess San Josie is going to be my whipping boy for the 2009 season. Utah comes off a performance that saw a sluggish effort against Utah State while the Spartans were summarily crushed by Southern Cal in LA. Giving two touchdowns on the road is a pretty tall order but I think the Utes are going to be ready to play a complete game against a beat-up Spartan team.
5. Hawai'i at Washington State (+2.5)
I can't believe I'm going to do this but I'm actually selecting the Cougs to win this week. I suppose I'm just a glutton for punishment.
Hawai'i is making a long trip to the mainland after struggling against D-1AA competition last week. WSU is coming off a 39-13 loss to Stanford that wasn't quite as bad as the scoreline indicates. The Cougs have a golden opportunity to get an early win in this match-up.
