The deadline for pre-entries for this year's Breeders' Cup at Churchill Downs is only one week away which means owners and trainers need to decide soon if and where to point their horses.
This weekend we learned the fate of the following horses:
- California sprinter Unzip Me is likely going to tackle the boys in the Turf Sprint.
- Awesome Feather put in a dazzling performance in last Saturday's My Dear Girl Stakes at Calder and will run next in the Juvenile Fillies.
- The Dirt Mile picked up another possible entry after Mad Flatter won the Spend A Buck at Calder.
- Where's the Remote, runner-up in the Hirsch Turf at Oak Tree Hollywood on October 3rd, is in consideration for a start in the Marathon.
- All is not good news on the BC front as Rigoletta, winner of the Oak Leaf, will miss the Juvenile Fillies with an injury. Additionally, Wigmore Hall (5th in the Champion Stakes and runner-up to Paddy O'Prado in the Secretariat), will not come over for the Breeders' Cup.
- It also sounds unlikely that QE II Challenge Cup winner Harmonoius will go to the Breeders' Cup, opting instead for some time off and a race later on back in California.
- Juvenile To Honor and Serve will skip the Breeders' Cup and point to the Nashua at Aqueduct.
