ORIGINAL POST: The second and final day of the DRF/NTRA National Handicapping Contest will kick off in a couple of hours.

Below is the leaderboard for the Top 10 after Day 1 (link to full leaderboard), along with the mandatory plays for Day 2.  I added a column on the leaderboard for each players "Per Play Average", which is essentially their total divide by the total number of plays in the day, 15.  In short, leader Thomas Anderson averaged $12.13 total (both win and place) per $2 Win/Place bet.  I've also tossed in the ROI. (Tables appear best on "wide" setting.)

4:15 PM - The mandatory plays are all done which leaves us two races at Santa Anita and two at Golden Gate to round out the contest.

3:35 PM - Things start to settle down around the country as the prices in the last two mandatory races (Oaklawn and Golden Gate) end up on the low side.  The leaderboard hasn't been updated since the 5th mandatory.

2:28 PM - The current leader of NHC XII is Ron Geary, President and CEO of Ellis Park in Kentucky.  After four mandatory races he about an $8 lead on 2nd place.

1:35 PM - The mandatory races are all producing good priced winners; the $12 winner in 5th at AQU is the lowest mandatory race payout on the day.

12:26 PM - Tampa spits out it's third $20+ winner on the day.  Just huge prices coming in today at that track.

11:30 AM - Oaklawn and the Big A kick off the mandatory plays with a couple of $10+ winners.  With the way these early races have unfolded it would appear that a big Day 2 score will be required to win.

11:05 AM- Tampa continues to kick out $20+ winners after Capt. Zippounas wins the 3rd at odds of 10/1.

10:27 AM - Gulfstream gets into the mix with their first $20+ horse of the day.  Contest players that love the Florida tracks are probably in good spirits.

10:13 AM  - The first bomb of the day comes in the 2nd at Tampa, and it's a cap horse at that.

9:40 AM - The day gets off to a strange beginning at the Big A where the winner, 8-King David J, was running for purse money only.  Second place finisher Estimator was your winner in terms of betting.  3rd place finisher, Little Wise Guy, paid $12.60 to place.

Over at Tampa, a 1/5 shot won for fun in the first.
