2011 Super Saturday/Arc Sunday Entries and Results

Scratches and Changes for today's tracks (when available):

Belmont 10.1
Santa Anita 10.1
Parx 10.1
Hoosier Park 10.1

8:02 AM PDT: I love the odds you get in Europe; nowhere else do you see a horse go off at odds of 57/10, as Rajsaman (FR) did before winning the G2-Prix Wildenstein at Longchamp this morning. 57/10.  Can we just call that 6/1 or 5.5/1?

8:20 AM: It's all in French, but if you want to watch nice, high quality video replays of all the Arc festival races, you can watch them at the Arc Web TV site. (Officially called La Web TV du Qatar Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe)

The ground is officially labeled "Good" at Longchamp today, which should alleviate some of the concerns of the Workforce (GB) camp for tomorrow's Arc.

9:08 AM: Notable scratches at Belmont today:

4-Aruna and 7-Senada are out of the Flower Bowl
2-Teaks North out of the Hirsch Turf Classic
6-Big Drama out of the Vosburgh
5-Senada out of the Kelso.

The main track is "MUDDY", the turf course is "YIELDING"

10:15 AM: Ben's Cat (1/2) took a lot of money prior to the Maryland Million Turf Sprint, and then he backed it up by running down Steady Warrior at Laurel.  Ben's Cat already won a Breeders' Cup Challenge race for the Turf Sprint (Turf Monster Hcp. at Parx) back on Sept. 3rd.

10:50 AM: First time starter Souper Speedy lights up the board in BEL3 at odds of 31/1. Souper Speedy is a two-year-old son of Indian Charlie out of the Gone West mare Speed Succeeds.  He is a 1/2 brother to Brilliant Speed.

10:55 AM: As HRTV has noted today, Maryland Million Turf Sprint winner Ben's Cat is not currently eligible for the Breeders' Cup and would have to be supplemented for $100,000, even though he won the WAYI race at Parx in early September.  It would be disappointing not to see one of the country's top turf sprinters at the Breeders' Cup, but $100k is a lot of iron to put up.

11:18 AM:The muddy Belmont main track is lighting fast right now; The Noz just clicked off sub :23 and :47 second splits in BEL 4 on his way to an easy win.  This was a $20k/n2l claimer race taken off the turf.

11:30 AM: Stacelita (FR) taking all kinds of cash at Belmont; she's currently 1/5 in the Flower Bowl.  The stakes card at Belmont kicks off in about 20 minutes.

12:00 PM: It doesn't get much easier than that.  Stacelita (FR) dominated in a Flower Bowl run in a crawl on the front end.  Sent off at 1/2 odds, Stacelita received little in terms of a serious challenge from her rivals and now heads to the Breeders' Cup as the top turf female in North America.

12:30 PM: The yielding Belmont turf course, a course that is playing more like soft or heavy, saw a grueling stretch duel between Cape Blanco (IRE) and Dean's Kitten in the HIrsch Turf Classic.  Cape Blanco won the photo to take his third straight Grade 1 race in the U.S.

1:05 PM: Giant Ryan wires the field in the Vosburgh in impressive fashion, holding off Force Freeze in deep stretch for the win.  Giant Ryan is now 3-for-3 lifetime over wet tracks.

1:40 PM: Uncle Mo cruises to an uncontested early lead on his way to a relatively easy win in the Kelso.  Jackson Bend made a big move on the turn, something he had to do given the tepid pace, but didn't have enough momentum to get by Uncle Mo, who didn't have to do much work at all in the early stages.

The hype machine will be in full effect for Uncle Mo following this race.  The main track at Belmont has been very fast and very kind to early speed; something to consider for all winners going forward.

2:15 PM: If you are still looking for evidence as to how much better Havre de Grace is compared to some of her female rivals, her utter thrashing of Royal Delta in the Beldame is exhibit #1.

Life At Ten quit, once gain, as soon as she was headed.  Her connections need to do right by this mare and give her a good retirement.  She clearly has no interest in racing anymore.

2:25 PM: Hey! I actually called a pace situation correctly! Whatdoyaknow?

Juanita gets an easy lead and wires the field in the Indiana Oaks, including the overbet A Z Warrior.

2:55 PM: Flat Out flatters Havre de Grace even more by easily winning the Jockey Club Gold Cup.  Stay Thirsty looked in trouble on the turn but was able to rally for 2nd, but he never threatened the winner.

3:30 PM: A very nice performance by Creative Cause in the Norfolk, and a disappointing one for Drill who failed to show the same acceleration on dirt as he did at Del Mar.

Julien Leparoux takes the Indiana Oaks/Derby double with Juanita and Wilburn.

3:55 PM: Hello Zazu! A big run from the lovely gray to take the Lady's Secret at Santa Anita.  Blind Luck did not fire at all today, the first time she hasn't run at least 1st or 2nd in a long, long time.

4:25 PM: A game performance from Game On Dude to win the Goodwood at SA. After dueling on the front-end with Tres Borrachos, Game On Dude repelled Coil at the top of the lane and held off a late charge from Awesome Gem at the wire to take the win and secure a spot in the Breeders' Cup Classic.
