Brethren, a Todd Pletcher trained son of Distorted Humor out of an A.P. Indy mare (Supercharger) and a half-brother to 2010 Kentucky Derby winner Super Saver, leads a field of ten in Saturday's Grade 3 Sam F. Davis Stakes at Tampa Bay Downs.
Brethren is 2-for-2 in his young career after winning a Maiden Special Weight race at Belmont last October followed by a one-mile N1X Allowance at Churchill in late November. Ramon Dominguez makes the trip down from New York to take the mount on the WinStar colt.
Among the other entries in the Sam F. Davis:
- Monzon - winner of the Count Fleet last time out at Aqueduct.
- Washington's Rules - a nice maiden winner at Gulfstream in an off-the-turf event on January 22nd.
- Beamer - a decent 3rd to runaway Soldat in his last start over a sloppy and sealed track at Gulfstream.
