Brethren wins the Sam F. Davis Stakes...with ease

If you've got a talented three-year-old colt that you think might have Derby aspirations, but you haven't witnessed what he can do against stakes horses, you couldn't ask for much more than Brethren gave his connections today in the Sam F. Davis at Tampa.

Brethren broke well from the outside post and quickly made his way to the front of the pack and a stalking position right behind Ribo Bobo.  The leader set moderate fractions (23.75, 48.20, 1:13.16) but had no response when Brethren went by him as they entered the far turn.  Jockey Ramon Dominguez shook him up at the top of the turn, gave him one crack of the stick with the left hand, and it was a straight shot to the winner's circle.

Too Experience finished second while Watch Me Go grabbed show honors.

Brethren paid $3.80, $3.20 and $2.80
