Giant Oak, a horse that hadn't crossed the finish line the first since a turf race at Arlington back in May of 2009, rolled past a tiring trio of frontrunners in deep stretch to win the Grade 1 Donn Handicap at Gulfstream Park.
The drive to the finish for the three horses involved in the early pace - Morning Line, Rule and I Want Revenge - hit the wall around the eighth pole and could provide little resistance to Giant Oak in deep stretch.
Giant Oak went off at odds of 7/1 and paid $16.80, $7.20 and $4.20.
