Fountain of Youth winner Soldat drew the rail and morning line favoritism for Sunday's Grade 1 Florida Derby at Gulfstream Park. The Kiaran McLaughlin trainee will compete against seven other three-year-old colts for the $1 million purse and a spot in the 2011 Kentucky Derby.  The Florida Derby will go to post at 5:42 Eastern (2:42 Pacific) on Sunday, April 3rd.

The addition of runaway Hutcheson winner Flashpoint to the Florida Derby field adds a touch of much needed pace to the proceedings.  Nick Zito, trainer of deep closing Holy Bull winner Dialed In, has got to be pleased with that turn of events.  It was a slow pace against older allowance horses that doomed Dialed In during his last race.

Below are the entries and post positions for this year's Grade 1 Florida Derby, as well as a summary of the last ten winners.
