If there's one thing you need to know about the Blue Grass Stakes since Keeneland switch from a dirt main track to the synthetic Polytrack, it's that the Blue Grass is just kicking out long shots year after year. This year's edition of the key Kentucky Derby prep race was no different as 19/1 Brilliant Speed nosed out 24/1 Twinspired at the wire for the win. 13/1 King Congie rounded out a trifecta that paid $6,006.40 for $2. The superfecta came back at $129.093.60 for $2.
Santiva, a colt that appeared much better on dirt than on synthetics in previous races, yet still went off at ridiculous odds of 5/2, finished a well-beaten ninth. Solid form on dirt means nothing when evaluating a horse's chances on Polytrack, especially at Keeneland.
