Silver Medallion, winner of the Grade 3 El Camino Real Derby at Golden Gate earlier this spring, currently sits just on the outside of the graded earning list for the 2011 Kentucky Derby. The Steve Asmussen trainee is entered in this Saturday's Coolmore Lexington Stakes (post time 5:20 Eastern) at Keeneland for a final shot at picking up the cash needed to ensure a starting spot in this year's Derby. The Lexington offers a total purse of $200,000 with $120,000 to the winner. A win at Keeneland would cause Silver Medallion to jump up to around 15 on the earnings list.
None of the other colts in the Lexington field would enter the Top 20 in graded earnings with a win on Saturday.
