Kentucky Derby favorite Uncle Mo will take his final step towards Churchill Downs when he faces off against nine rivals in the Grade 1 Resorts World New York Casino Wood Memorial* at Aqueduct on Saturday (Post time 5:48 Eastern / 2:48 Pacific).
This year's Wood Memorial carries with it a $1 million purse which essentially guarantees the winner a spot in the 2011 Kentucky Derby. Uncle Mo doesn't need another dime in earnings to get into the big dance, but the rest of the field is going to need every dollar they can find in order to have a shot to make the starting gate on the first Saturday in May.
*That has got to be the longest race name in North America.
Below are the entries and post positions for the Wood and I'll have a full preview on Friday morning.
