Royal Delta sat off the early trio of pacesetters - Hot Summer, Wyomia and Buster's Ready - and powered her way to the front coming off the far turn en route to a victory in the Grade 2 Black Eyed Susan Stakes at Pimlico this afternoon.  Royal Delta, ridden by Jose Lezcano and trained by Bill Mott, was sent off as the 9/5 co-favorite with Wyomia.

Hot Summer, the filly expected to grab the early lead in the race, was never able to settle into an easy gallop as she was pressure by Wyomia and Buster's Ready from the opening of the gate.  That added pace pressure set things up perfectly for Royal Delta and Jose Lezacano, as the co-favorite sat in 4th through much of the early stages, three or four lengths back.  Once she made her move on the far turn, she had plenty of gas left in the tank to hold off a game Buster's Ready in deep stretch.
