Tizway stalked the early pace of Tackleberry through the opening half-mile, moved to the lead while coming off the far turn, and put away the rest of the field on his way to winning the Grade 1 Met Mile at Belmont Park on Saturday afternoon. Tizway, third in the 2010 Met Mile, went off at odds of 3/1 and was ridden by Rajiv Maragh and trained by Harold Bond.

Tackleberry got the opening spit he wanted - a tepid 23.17 - but from there the pace picked up enough to set things up perfectly for Tizway, who sat in the garden spot throughout the early stages. A solid closing quarter of 24.24 by the winner stops the final time in a sizzling 1:32.90. A very nice performance by Tizway in his third start of 2011.
