DEL MAR OAKS RESULT: Summer Soiree Hangs On

Summer Soiree set a solid pace over a Del Mar turf course that hasn't been overly kind to frontrunners, and then hung on in the final furlong to win the Grade 1 Del Mar Oaks over Star Billing.

Summer Soiree didn't win the Oaks as easily as she did the Boiling Spring at Monmouth, but she was still impressive in victory.  The early pace was strong - six furlongs in a rapid 1:10.22, and a mile in 1:34.81 - and while she began to tire in deep stretch, the rest of the field had too much ground to make up

Payouts:
3-Summer Soiree: $6.00, $4.40, $3.80
2-Star Billing: $5.20, $4.20
9-Nereid: $4.40

$2 Exacta: $33.20
$2 Trifecta: $162.00
$1 Superfecta: $216.20

Fractions:
1/4: 23.14
1/2: 46.96
3/4: 1:10.22
Mile: 1:34.81
Finish: 1:46.46
