In the Breeders' Cup post yesterday I made mention of the fact that I forgot that 2010 Breeders' Cup Sprint champion Big Drama was actually still in training given the length of time he's had between races.  Well, that drought comes to an end on Sunday when he will run in an overnight stakes race at Calder.

There's not a lot of time to waste is Big Drama is to be at the top of his game for the Breeders' Cup, but he's got to take the first step before the connections can even think about him defending his title. Big Drama's last start came in the G2-Mr. Prospector at Gulfstream on January 15th.  He steamrolled that field by four easy lengths while setting a new track record at 1:08.12.

Among the horses Big Drama will face on Sunday is D'Funnybone, currently trained by Marty Wolfson. D'Funnybone has been severely off-form since the middle of 2010 when he won the G2-Woddy Stephens and finished 2nd in the G2-Carry Back.  Since then his best performance was a 2nd place finish behind Trappe Shot in the ungraded Waldoboro at Belmont last May.  In his last start he finished 8th, beaten by 26 ½ lengths in the James Marvin at Saratoga.
