Canadian International 2012 Results: Joshua Tree & Dettori alone on the lead

New, 2 comments

Joshua Tree (IRE) and Frankie Dettori lead every step of the way to win the Grade 1 Pattison Canadian International Stakes at Woodbine. Joshua Tree broke well and set the early pace in moderate splits through the first half mile over ground rated GOOD at Woodbine. In the third quarter, Dettori was able to milk out another pedestrian split which put serious pressure on his rivals to run down the lone speed. Favorite Imperial Monarch tracked the leader in fourth but had no response when it came time to run down the leader in the stretch.

Dandino (GB) and Forte Dei Marmi (GB) closed well from the back to grab the second and third positions but Joshua Tree and Dettori had their rivals measured in the final strides.

If you needed an exhibit as to why Frankie Dettori remains one of the top riders in the game, just watch him milk Joshua Tree all the way around the Woodbine turf course.

Joshua Tree is a five-year-old son of Montjeu (IRE) out of a Grand Lodge mare (Mandeira Mist (IRE), trained by Marco Botti. He was third to Ofevre (JPN) in the G2-Prix Foy in his last start and won the G2-Prix Kergorlay at Deauville two races back.
