Just a quick thought on this election morning. While the rest of the country can discuss the never-ending political situation, I want to talk about the truly important elections this fall/winter - the Eclipse Awards/1
I think we can all agree that Horse of the Year, for the most part, is decided. Wise Dan, with his dominating victory in the Breeders' Cup Mile, paired with the failures of Game On Dude, Ron the Greek and Point of Entry (among others), probably puts the whole HOY discussion to bed. I suppose some could make an argument for Royal Delta but she seems to be a long shot, at best.
With HOY pretty much wrapped up, I think the most compelling vote will involve the Eclipse Award for top older female of 2012. Royal Delta, following her repeat in the Ladies' Classic/Distaff, is the leader in the clubhouse with Groupie Doll and Zagora (FR) attempting to make up ground. Of the three, I'm inclined to say a clear 'no' on Zagora, but Groupie Doll is an interesting challenger.
So, which filly/mare gets your vote for top older female of 2012?
