2012 Dubai World Cup Result: Monterosso Shocks At 35/1

Monterosso (GB), 10/1 odds on the morning line and sent of at boxcar odds of 35/1, rolled to the front of the field in the final furlongs to win the world's richest horse race, the $10 million Dubai World Cup. Capponi (IRE) couldn't keep up with the winner in the final furlong and finished second. Planteur (IRE) finished third, while So You Think (IRE) rounded out the top 4.

Game On Dude raced mid-pack early on, a change from his usual front-running style, and attempted to make a move to the lead as the field ran towards the far turn but came up with nothing at the top of the stretch.

Royal Delta raced towards the rear early on and never was a factor.

Monterosso is a five-year-old son of Dubawi (IRE) out of a Barathea (IRE) mare (Porto Roca (AUS), owned by Goldolphin, trained by Mahmood Al Zarooni, and ridden by Mickael Barzalona in his usual flamboyant style.
