Happy Easter to everyone that celebrates this day. If you don't celebrate Easter, I hope you are having a good Sunday. I've got time for a quick post today before heading off to visit family; below are the initial speed figures* for yesterday's graded stakes races, including the Wood Memorial, Santa Anita Derby and Illinois Derby.
*Beyer figures are preliminary numbers from the Formulator interactive charts. The Equibase figures can be found at their website.
Race | Winner | Beyer | Equibase | Bris |
G1-Ashland | Karlovy Vary | 90 | 102 | TBD |
G1-Carter | Jackson Bend | 109 | 117 | TBD |
G1-Santa Anita Derby | I'll Have Another | 94 | 107 | TBD |
G1-Wood Memorial | Gemologist | 98 | 114 | TBD |
G2-Potrero Grande | Amazombie | 105 | 116 | TBD |
G3-Bay Shore | Trinniberg | 94 | 104 | TBD |
G3-Comely | Broadway's Alibi | 95 | 108 | TBD |
G3-Illinois Derby | Done Talking | 85 | 99 | TBD |
G3-Providencia | Lady of Shamrock | 84 | 100 | TBD |
Not surprisingly, Done Talking's Illinois Derby victory comes up on the low end of the list. Given how slow that field finished up, I really expected nothing less. In the battle of the Wood and the Santa Anita Derby, Gemologist gets the clear nod from both Beyer and Equibase. In fact, Beyer and Equibase are in agreement on pretty much every race from yesterday. We'll see if Bris views the results the same way when they release their numbers in the next day or two.
