G1-Stephen Foster Handicap: Entries and Post Positions

Alternation, winner of four straight races, including the G3-Razorback, G2-Oaklawn Handicap and G3-Pimlico Special, leads a field of nine in Saturday night's Grade 1 Stephen Foster Handicap at Churchill Downs (post time: 9:39pm Eastern; TV: HRTV). Among the horses joining Alternation in the Foster are:

  • Nates Mineshaft, the runaway winner of the G3-Lone Start Park Handicap in his last start;
  • Fort Larned, second in the G2-Alysheba to Successful Dan and winner of the G3-Skip Away;
  • Santa Anita Handicap winner Ron the Greek;
  • Wise Dan, a powerful winner of the G3-Ben Ali at Keeneland with a Beyer of 117; and
  • Successful Dan, winner of five straight races, including the G1-Clark Handicap last November at Churchill Downs.

In addition to the Foster, Churchill Downs will run three more graded stakes races: the G3-Matt Winn at 8.5 furlongs on the grass, the G3-Regret for three-year-old fillies at nine furlongs on the turf, and the G2-Fleur de Lis for older fillies and mares at nine furlongs on the main track. In the Fleur de Lis, Breeders' Cup Ladies' Classic winner Royal Delta will make her first start since finishing a well-beaten ninth on the Dubai World Cup.

Below are the entries and post positions for Saturday night's Stephen Foster Handicap. Morning line odds will be added when available.
