You want speed? Goldencents gots your speed an then some. In what was a great tactical move from jockey Rafael Bejarano, Goldencents went right to the lead out of the starting gate, took advantage of the speed biased Santa Anita main track and rolled home to win the 2013 Breeders' Cup Dirt Mile. Golden Ticket made a big run along the rail to grab the place spot while Brujo de Olleros (BRZ) rounded out the trifecta.
Santa Anita's main track is playing to speed as much, if not more so, than it did in 2012. Goldencents took advantage of that in today's Dirt Mile.
Goldencents is a three-year-old colt by Into Mischief out of a Banker's Gold mare (Golden Works), trained by Doug O'Neill and ridden by Rafael Bejarano. Earlier this season Goldencents won the Santa Anita Derby over this same Santa Anita main track.
