Dayatthespa assumed command of the race from the second the gate opened on her way to a front running victory in the Grade 1 Queen Elizabeth II Challenge Cup on the seventh day of the 2012 Keeneland Fall Meet. Jockey Javier Castellano hustled his mount out of the gate in good order and opened up a two length lead over long shot Better Lucky through early splits of 24.52 and 49.11. Castellano kept a moderate pace through the third split, clocking six furlongs in a pedestrian 1:13.96.
By the time the field hit the top of the stretch, it was going to be difficult for anyone to get to the lone speed. Centre Court, Better Lucky and Samitar were the closest fillies to Dayatthespa, with Centre Court willingly chasing the winner, but at the wire it was a comfortable two length victory for the Chad Brown trained filly. Post time favorite Stephanie's Kitten never threatened to top four.
