Arkansas Derby 2013 Results: Overanalyze Dominates At Oaklawn

Overanalyze stalked the early pace of Falling Sky and Heaven's Runway, took command of the race at the top of the stretch and pulled away to easily win the Grade 1 Arkansas Derby at Oaklawn Park. Frac Daddy rallied to finish second, Carve got up to finish third, and Falling Sky rounded out the superfecta.

Oxbow, considered one of the top contenders for the race, failed to show any early speed and found himself near the rear of the field heading into the backstretch. He made a late run from the back of the pack in the final furlongs but never threatened the winner at any stage of the race.

Bob Baffert's War Academy, the post time favorite, was pulled up just prior to entering the far turn by jockey Mike Smith. He walked off the track and did not appear to suffer a major injury.

Overanalyze is a three-year-old colt by Dixie Union out of a Unaccounted For mare (Unacloud), trained by Todd Pletcher and ridden by Rafael Bejarano.
